How can I find transporter offers on HAPPYCAR?
It’s very easy. Once you choose a location and rental dates, you can use a car category filter to opt for a specific vehicle type.
Can I rent a transporter without a deposit?
No. It is required to block deposits upon the collection of the car when collecting a transporter. The amount is always outlined in Terms and Conditions of the respective offer. The same rule applies to the bookings with refundable deductible.
Can I rent a transporter and travel abroad?
In most cases - yes. Cross border with transporter / van is often allowed, however there might be certain restrictions. Before booking an offer make sure to read Terms and Conditions which clearly outline countries you can travel to, price for this service, and other regulations, such as vignette (example: in Austria or Switzerland). The majority of car rental companies will expect you to return a transporter in the country you collected it.
Is it possible to rent a transporter only one way?
Yes! One way rentals are favoured especially when moving from one city to another. One way rentals with transporters are allowed mostly within one country. It might be very difficult for you to find a car rental company that allows you to pick up the transporter in one country and drop it off in another.
Are there any mileage restrictions when renting a transporter?
Yes. There are not many car rental companies that allow unlimited free mileage for transporters. Mostly, there is a daily restriction which is always outlined in Terms and Conditions of the respective offer. Do not worry if your daily route exceeds the mileage allowed - you can drive more but at a certain fee.
How big are the transporters?
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide you with dimensions of the transporter and its capacity, as HAPPYCAR does not own its own fleet. We can request this information for you once the booking is completed, however cannot give you any guarantees.
What insurance should I purchase to have the transporter fully covered?
When you rent a car within European Union, there are some basic insurances that must be included in the offer.
- Third Party Liability - the minimum legal amount is included in the offer.
- Collision Damage Waiver with deductible - also included in the basic offers. With this coverage you might be held liable for the vehicle up to a certain amount, and not for the whole value of the car.
However, if rent a car for example in the United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain or any other country, it is recommended that you verify if any insurance is included with your credit card. If not, please contact a car rental company in order to take out the rental insurance.
To extend your coverage, you have some options:
- Purchase extra insurance while completing the booking
- Purchase the insurance upon the collection of the car
Renting a transporter - Are there any age restrictions?
That depends strictly on the car rental company, however in most cases the main driver needs to be 21 or older, and have had a driving license for min. 12 months. Also, the age regulations for a small transporter / van are not as strict.
What license do I need to rent and drive a transporter/van?
- Transporter up to 3,5 tons - Driving license category B
- Transporter from 3,5 tons to 7,5 tons - Driving license category C
Also, make sure you are acquainted with the local regulations, as in some countries in Europe, it is forbidden to drive a truck on Sundays.
When can I cancel my transporter booking?
Cancellation free of charge is possible up to 48 hours prior to the pick up time. It is important to make sure if any other rules are applied by the providers during summer months.
