Whether it concerns changed flight times or registered drivers, often there are changes in rental car bookings. First, we can tell you, don't worry! Changes can be made to your rental car booking.
If you are unable to pick up or return the rental car within a period of 15 to 30 minutes around the scheduled time, a change should be made to the rental dates.
Also, a re-booking should be made if the main driver changes and someone new must be entered.
For all changes to a booking, the daily updated prices are generally used by the supplier, we recommend that you inform us as soon as possible. The reason for this is that the rental prices increase closer to the pick-up date. Confirming a re-booking within a period of 48 hours before the pick-up of the rental car can be difficult. Also, once a re-booking has been made it must first be confirmed by the local station. As soon as the change in your car rental booking has been confirmed, HAPPYCAR will send you a new car rental voucher on which all changes are noted.

Please note that any changes such as the drop off location or time of return made during the commenced rental period needs to be communicated to the local station and discussed. Unfortunately, we cannot make any changes to your booking after the rental period has started.
Can I change the rental period?
Extending or shortening the rental period is one of the most common requests from customers. For spontaneous travel plans, it may also be desirable to pick up the rental car earlier. If you make these requests early, the new booking or re-booking is usually free of charge. A prerequisite is, of course, that the rental company can provide a vehicle at the appropriate time.
More difficult are subsequent changes for rental cars within the cancellation period. This usually begins 24 hours before the agreed-upon rental time. A re-booking is then only possible if the car rental company shows goodwill. If you want to shorten, extend, or postpone the rental period, this can only be done in agreement with the car rental company. Please contact our service team. We will gladly check the availability of vehicles for you.
Tip: If you notice during your trip that you need the car longer than planned, please contact your local rental company as early as possible. If the car is still available for the following days, the extension is usually simple. The costs for the additional rental time will be paid directly to the rental company.
Can I return my rental car early?
In the case of an early return, you normally have to pay the costs for the whole booking period. There is no legal claim for a refund of the remaining amount. However: If you return the rental car for unforeseeable and serious reasons, some providers are accommodating. In these situations, it is helpful to speak personally with the provider.
Modifications to the rental car: Can I change the vehicle model?
If you have booked a rental car but do not feel comfortable in the vehicle during the rental period, you can ask for a vehicle exchange directly at your car rental company. Ideally, you should go directly to one of your provider's stations and explain your request to the service staff.
However: If the vehicle has no damage or defects, the rental company is not obliged to exchange the rental car. A change of car just because you do not like the vehicle is usually not possible or involves an additional charge. Alternatively, you can ask for an upgrade, which also costs extra.
The situation is different in the case of an accident: In this case, a subsequent change of the rental car is quite possible. What claims you have for a replacement car, a repair, or exchange depends on your insurance. We recommend to always book a fully comprehensive insurance package with optimal coverage.
Is it possible to change the return location while using the car?
Stay flexible and spontaneous: This is what many travelers want. However, you have to specify at the time of booking which station you will return the rental car. We at HAPPYCAR cannot make any subsequent changes to the drop-off point during your rental period. If your travel plans change, please discuss your wishes directly with your rental provider. The earlier you contact us, the better the chances are that the supplier will agree to a different drop-off location. In any case, you should expect additional fees. If you wish to change the pick-up or drop-off location before you accept the vehicle, please contact our service team, who will be happy to check availability for you.
