How do I cancel a rental car booking?
To cancel, re-book, or extend a rental car reservation, the following options are available:

- Use self-service - the link to self-service can be found in your booking confirmation e-mail.

Tip: To cancel your rental car, please have your reservation number ready. You will find this number on the booking confirmation as well as on your rental car voucher, which you have received by e-mail. After the cancellation, we will send you a written cancellation confirmation via e-mail. Any amounts already paid will be automatically transferred back to your bank account. You can also cancel your booking independently in Self-Service. You will find the link to this in your booking confirmation and voucher e-mail. Please note that the cancellation in self-service is only possible up to 72 hours before pick-up.
When is free cancellation possible?
At HAPPYCAR, you can cancel the booked rental car, free of charge, in writing up to 48 hours before the agreed pick-up time. The cancellation must be reviewed within the HAPPYCAR service hours at least 48 hours before pick up. The cancellation request can be submitted anytime, however, it will only be review during working hours (please keep in mind it must be reviewed during working hours and 48 hours before pick up). This service applies even if the respective car rental supplier states different cancellation conditions.
If you cancel the rental car within 48 hours before pick-up, the specified general terms and conditions of the respective rental car provider apply. Please feel free to contact our service team. Our trained staff will work together with the rental car provider to help find an optimal solution.
Can I change to another rental car category on short notice?
Yes, HAPPYCAR is flexible when re-booking. Within the 48 hours cancellation period, you can cancel your originally reserved rental car and book another car category. The prerequisite for this is that the fleet provider still has a suitable rental car available in your booking period. If you have any questions about the exact procedure for cancellation or re-booking, we will be happy to assist you.
What are the fees for a rental car cancellation on the day of pickup?
As long as the car rental cancellation is made 48 hours before the scheduled start of the rental period, there will be no charges for you. If you wish to cancel or re-book the reserved rental car within the deadline, you will have to pay at least part of the rental costs. The amount of the fee varies from provider to provider. If you do not cancel the booked vehicle and do not pick it up at the pick-up location, a Non-Cancellation / No-Show Fee will be charged.
To ensure that you will not incur any additional costs, even if your travel plan changes spontaneously, it is advisable to check the rental conditions carefully.
Tip: Some car rental companies offer special rates that allow you to re-book your rental car at very short notice. You can recognize this option by terms like "Flexi-Tariff." Unfortunately, HAPPYCAR does not offer this "Flexi-Tariff" option presently.
