Demand for rental cars is higher than ever. In order to adhere to the social distancing rules, and to stay safe during those extraordinary times, many travelers decide to rent a car. It is important for you to get acquainted with the travel restrictions and regulations before renting a car. Please note that these can vary between cities, states and countries.
Our cancellation and modification policies remain the same. You can cancel and modify your rental car booking up to 48 hours prior to the pick-up time. Our Team will be HAPPY to assist you.
Does HAPPYCAR provide information about possible restrictions?
No. We do not follow travel restrictions within countries and cities as they are dependent on local authorities. HAPPYCAR does not act as a consultant on those matters. For further information please check e.g. latest information from your ministry of foreign affairs.
What should I do if I cannot travel due to new restrictions or Covid-19 positive diagnosis?
If you cannot travel due to restrictions, quarantine or positive diagnosis, you can cancel your booking as always up to 48 hours prior the pick up time within our opening times. More information about cancellation policy can be found in the separate article.
Can I modify my booking due to COVID-19 related reasons?
Yes. Regardless of the reason, you can always modify your rental car booking with HAPPYCAR. This can be done up to 48 hours prior to the pick-up, however we recommend that you contact our team even at the last minute, as some providers offer spontaneous amendments (it cannot always be guaranteed though).
What will happen if a car rental company is closed due to lockdown?
You should take a photo of the information provided (for example on the door). Please try to contact the car rental company or the provider via phone, and contact HAPPYCAR afterwards. We will try to either rebook the offer (this cannot be guaranteed), or we will submit a case to the provider for the refund.
Do I need to do a PCR or a rapid test to collect a car?
In general no, however there might be exceptions. Everything depends on the internal regulations implemented by the car rental company. To be fully informed about possible requirements, we recommend visiting the supplier’s official website or to call them (contact details are to be found on the rental voucher).
Are rental cars cleaned and disinfected properly?
Should I clean the car before returning it?
There is no need to sanitize the car, however it should be returned in the same condition it was collected. If this is not the case, cleaning fees may apply.
What happens if I am quarantined and cannot return the rental car?
Should that be the case, please contact your local supplier directly to determine the next steps. Make sure other people do not have contact with the car and car keys for the next few hours. If you fail to inform the car rental about your situation, you may be charged extra fees incurred until the rental car is returned to the station.
