Bookings at HAPPYCAR can always be paid for with Visa or Mastercard. All providers except CarHireMarket accept American Express.
Note: Most providers accept other payment methods, such as prepaid and debit cards. In all cases, the main driver's credit card will need to be presented upon collection of the vehicle.
Is it possible to rent a car without a credit card?
No, upon collecting the car, a valid credit card issued to the main driver is necessary to block the deposit. However, you can use a different card to pay on the HAPPYCAR website. Read the specific article to learn more about renting without a credit card.
Which credit cards are accepted for payment?
The credit card must meet the following requirements:
Issued to the main driver
It is possible to use a company credit card. However, the name of the main driver must be indicated on it.
The card must be valid for at least the next 6 months
The card must have a limit high enough to pay for a booking
Internationally recognized credit cards, such as Visa, Mastercard, or American Express
Attention: The payment for the booking and blocking deposit at pick-up time are two different transactions. For instance, your American Express credit card, while accepted for payment, can be rejected for the deposit. Always check the terms and conditions of the respective offer.
What are the reasons for a payment error?
Various factors may cause online payment failures. Possible reasons for the payment problem may be:
Type error when entering data
Usage of built-in autofill of your credit card information from your browser
Reaching a card limit
Not activated for online payments

When does the booking need to be paid?
The time of payment depends on the provider of your booking.
Attention: If you book a one-way rental, which means that the pick-up and return stations are different, the corresponding fee must be paid at the local rental desk, as this option is considered an additional service.
